Your boat faces risks every time it hits the water—or sits at the dock. Weather damage, collisions, theft, and liability issues can happen when you least expect them. Our boat insurance plans provide strong protection tailored to your needs so you can enjoy every outing worry-free.

Florida law does not generally require recreational boat owners to carry boat insurance. Lenders and marinas often do, as a condition of your loan or slip agreement, and a single accident on the water can lead to costly liability claims. We help you choose liability, hull and equipment coverage that fits how you use your boat.
If you were born on or after January 1, 1988, Florida requires you to complete a boating safety course and carry your Boating Safety Education ID Card, plus photo ID, to operate a boat with a motor of 10 horsepower or more. The card is good for life.
Motorized boats used on Florida's public waters must be titled and registered, and you have 30 days after buying a new or used boat to do it at a county tax collector or license plate agent office. Non-motorized boats under 16 feet, canoes and kayaks are exempt from registration.
You must be at least 14 to operate a personal watercraft in Florida, and an owner may not knowingly let someone younger operate it. Everyone on board must wear a Coast Guard-approved life jacket, and personal watercraft may not be operated between a half hour after sunset and a half hour before sunrise.
No. Florida law does not allow marinas to require boats to be removed after a hurricane watch or warning is issued, although a marina may take reasonable steps to secure your boat and charge a reasonable fee. If your boat can be trailered, Florida's wildlife commission recommends hauling it out and moving it away from tidal waters before a storm.
